State of the New Space Economy
In an industry increasingly dominated by SpaceX and its unbeatable launch cadence, small satellite launch providers are being forced to pivot their strategies to adapt just as quickly.
Small launch providers like Relativity, Firefly, and Rocket Lab are all shifting to larger rocket designs to better compete with SpaceX’s ridesharing Transporter services. And while the competition is stiff, SmallSat providers maintain that their unique launch capabilities still have their uses servicing specific orbits that a bundled rideshare cannot.
2) The Large Hadron Collider’s Successor Could Unlock the Secrets of the Universe:
The Large Hadron Collider, a joint physics project between France and Switzerland that has been studying the most foundational forces in particle physics, has made progress in the development of its next generation collider, dubbed the Future Circular Collider.
And this project is indeed futuristic, with the first wing of the collider expected to begin construction in the mid 2030s for activation in 2045, and the second wing receiving an incredible opening date of no-earlier-than 2070.
Stay tuned, as the project promises to unlock the secrets of the mysterious forces of dark matter and dark energy, which may require far higher energies and luminosity to fully understand. And seeing as the two forces combined comprise nearly 95% of the observable universe, the FCC’s findings could set new paradigms in our understanding of reality itself.
